17 Year Old Airlifted To Hospital – Good Samaritans In Goderich Help Rescue Females From Maitland River

(GODERICH, ON) – Two females are currently in hospital with serious injuries after they plummeted off the Menesetung Bridge this afternoon.

At 12:21 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services, Goderich Fire Department and Canadian Coast Guard personnel responded to the Maitland River in Goderich after a civilian called 9-1-1 to report two females had fallen into the river from atop the Menesetung Bridge.

Two civilians immediately entered the Maitland River and provided lifesaving assistance until rescue units arrived on scene.

A 17-year-old female from Bluewater was transported to a hospital in London by air ambulance. She remains in hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. A 20-year-old female from Goderich was transported to a local hospital. She remains in hospital with serious injuries.

Please Note: There are no safety concerns with the bridge and access to the Menesetung Bridge remains open to the public.
