On Saturday, July 30, 2016 at approximately 6:10 p.m., a motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Lorraine Avenue and Montcalm Drive in the City of Kitchener. A 72 year old Kitchener male was riding a bicycle west on Lorraine Avenue when he attempted to turn left onto Montcalm Drive. A Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by a 46 year old Brockton male turned left from Montcalm Drive onto Lorraine Avenue. The pickup truck struck the bicycle and knocked the rider to the pavement. The cyclist was taken to Hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries. The cyclist was wearing a helmet which helped to minimize his injuries. The intersection was closed for approximately 4 hours while police investigated. The investigation is ongoing.
