Barrie Police were called to Centennial Beach in the City of Barrie just after 6:00 p.m. for a suspected drowning.
Police along with Barrie Fire Services and Paramedics initiated a search of the water and beach area. An officer of the Barrie Police Marine Unit located the victim approximately 25 feet just outside the designated swimming area below the water line.
The victim, a 16 year-old male visiting Barrie from outside the country was rushed to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and later pronounced deceased.
