On Thursday August 11th, 2016 at approximately 8:15 a.m., a 6 year old Waterloo girl, along with her mother, were walking westbound, crossing Ira Needles Boulevard between University Avenue and Thorndale Drive, in Waterloo. A car travelling southbound on Ira Needles Boulevard in the left lane stopped to allow the family to cross. The child began walking and was struck by a southbound car travelling in the right lane that was operated by a 24 year old Wilmot Township man. The child was transported to a local hospital and then airlifted to a Hamilton hospital for further medical care. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
