Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 17Aug2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 165 calls for service in the last 24 hours. One person was arrested.

Wallaceburg Woman Charged with Multiple Offences CK16026427 / CK16025665

On August 10, 2016 around 4:30 p.m. the woman was outside on Wallace Street when she asked a man for a cigarette. The man provided her one and a conversation began. A short time later, a disagreement occurred and the woman assaulted the man with her purse and threatened him while holding a large knife. The man was not injured and the woman fled the area prior to police arrival.

Yesterday, police responded to another complainant involving the same woman. Since the middle of July into August the woman has been attending another tenant’s apartment on numerous occasions early in the morning threatening to cause her harm. She also threatened another tenant in their apartment building.

The 44-year-old Wallaceburg woman has been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, criminal harassment and four counts of uttering threats. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK16026377

Sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday morning, unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a property on Lorne Avenue causing about $100 damage. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole $1000 worth of tools, cable and wiring.

Theft in Blenheim CK16026434

Sometime August 14, 2016 between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) entered a carport on Teal Drive and stole tools and hockey equipment valued at approximately $1200.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK16026408

Shortly after 11:00 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Charing Cross Road near Middle Line.

Minor injuries were reported. Total damage was estimated at $10,000.

An 83-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to yield the right of way.

‘First Time Rider’ – School Bus Orientation

Students going into JK, SK and Gr 1 along with their parents are invited to a school bus orientation this Saturday, August 20, 2016 anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. at Ursuline College on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

Kids will learn about school bus safety, practice school bus evacuations, take a short ride on the bus and watch a school bus safety video.
