At approximately 9:30 a.m. a despondent 51 year old Kitchener male climbed on the Forest Hill United Church and tied himself to the cross. The church was evacuated. Police set up containment and negotiated with the male. Emergency medical services and Kitchener fire attended to assist with the situation. The male came down on his own after being on the roof for six hours. The male was taken to GRH for a medical assessment and subsequently held for a bail hearing facing criminal charges.
