24 Year Old Drunk Driver From North Perth Arrested In Clinton

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – An early morning traffic stop on September 18, 2016 has led to an Impaired Driving charge against a North Perth resident. At approximately 4:30 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a Dodge Ram pickup truck travelling northbound on Albert Street. The investigating officer watched as the driver of the pickup truck crossed over the center line. Upon seeing the erratic driving the investigating officer initiated a traffic stop and pulled the vehicle over on Hill Street.

Upon speaking with the male driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been consuming alcohol and he was displaying several signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Driving and was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 24-year-old William DAUNT from North Perth has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He was released from custody with a court date scheduled for November 7, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
