(HURON COUNTY, ON) – Huron County residents, do you know there is another way to report a minor crime? It’s called Citizen Self Reporting.
Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding the public about their online reporting system as an alternative to having an officer attend a scene for a minor incident. You make the report, at your convenience, without the need to attend an OPP Detachment or call the OPP Provincial Communications Centre (PCC). Citizen Self Reporting (CSR) rolled out across the province in the summer of 2014 however the use in Huron County and throughout the region has been very low to date.
The OPP’s Citizen Self Reporting system is an easy to use internet reporting tool that can be accessed from a computer or mobile device and sent directly to the OPP anywhere, anytime. Citizen Self Reporting provides a convenient and user-friendly alternative way to report crime and at the same time it allows the OPP to be more efficient with our resources. Frontline officers will be able to focus their efforts on targeted enforcement initiatives and crime prevention strategies within our communities.
Keep in mind, the use of this new system is completely optional. Police will still attend a call for service if desired.
