Suspect sought in Baseline Road and Terry Fox Drive robberies

(Ottawa)— The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating two recent bank robberies and is seeking the public’s assistance to identify the suspect responsible.

On September 29, 2016, at approximately 7:35pm, a disguised lone suspect entered a bank situated along the 700 block of Baseline Road, near Fisher Avenue. The suspect entered brandishing a handgun. A verbal demand was made for money. The suspect fled with an undisclosed quantity of cash. There were no injuries.

On October 7, 2016, at approximately 3:05pm, a lone suspect entered a bank situated along the 400 block of Terry Fox Drive, near Campeau Drive. The suspect again entered brandishing a handgun. A verbal demand was made for money. The suspect fled with an undisclosed quantity of cash. There were no injuries.

Investigators believe the same suspect is responsible for both robberies. The suspect is described as being a Caucasian male, approximately 5’6” (168cm), English speaking. He was wearing sunglasses, a balaclava, a hooded jacket and a ball cap in both robbery incidents. Additionally, he was carrying a bag over his shoulder. (see pictures)
