On Wednesday October 26th, 2016 at approximately 2:22 pm, a pedestrian was struck by an eastbound CN freight train on the CN railroad tracks near Main Street North and Carruthers Road in the Town of Halton Hills.
Due to the nature of the investigation, the Halton Regional Police Service – Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken carriage of the investigation.
The incident did not occur at a level crossing, and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
Due to the length of the freight train, roads were closed for approximately 6 hours near level crossings.
This is the second pedestrian/train related fatality in the Region of Halton in 2016.
