Stolen Handgun Recovered – 25 Year Old Suspended Impaired Driver Arrested – Name Released

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On March 3, 2018, at approximately 9:00 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle on Medway Road, near Richmond Street.

The driver was found to be driving while suspended. The 25-year-old male driver of the vehicle was arrested for impaired driving by drug and driving while under suspension.

Further investigation revealed that the male was in possession of a semi-automatic handgun. The handgun had been reported stolen from a 2012 residential break and enter.

As a result of the investigation, Nexhat KONJUVCA of London, Ontario, was arrested and charged with multiple offences pursuant to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC):

Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana

Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle (Drug)

Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtain by crime

Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition

Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

Carrying concealed weapon

Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

Handle firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner

Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition

The accused was held in custody and remanded into custody with a scheduled bail hearing in the future.
