Seeking public assistance to identify male suspect in Sandy Hill area incident

(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section is seeking public assistance to identify a male suspect in relation to an ongoing investigation.

On Monday, August 24, 2015 at approximately 5:50am, an unidentified male approached a female in her 20s near the intersection of Charlotte Street and Clarence Street East. He pushed her into the bushes and inappropriately touched her. The victim screamed which alerted a passerby. The suspect fled on foot in a westbound direction toward Desjardins Avenue.

Police were called and immediately responded to the area. A search for the suspect had negative results.

The male is described as a Caucasian male, in his late 20s to early 30s with a skinny build. The suspect wore glasses and was bald. He was dressed in black clothing and carrying a black backpack.

Investigators are looking to speak with the female passerby who was alerted by the screams and assisted the female victim.
