(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A 27 year old Exeter resident has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol after he was stopped by police on May 11, 2015. A few minutes before 11:00 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received information about a possible impaired driver that was believed to be soon leaving a licensed establishment in Exeter.
Officers began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and a short while later a Huron OPP officer observed the suspect vehicle heading south on Main Street at a high rate of speed. The Pontiac Montana minivan was followed a short distance before it was stopped on Gidley Street in Exeter.
Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was performed and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit.
Further investigation revealed the driver was driving with a suspended driver’s licence.
As a result, 27 year old Ryan SEDLAK from Exeter has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, Speeding and Drive Under Suspension. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on June 22, 2015. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
