(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment Auxiliary Unit would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that donated to this year’s food and toy drive.
The Norfolk County OPP Auxiliary Unit and members of Scotiabank conducted various food drives at local area grocery stores. As a result of the generous donations from members of the public, a new record was set with the amount of food that was donated to local food banks.
Last year the Auxiliary Unit was able to raise approximately 7123 lbs of food. This year, the food drive was able to raise approximately 14995 lbs of food that was distributed to local area food banks.
The OPP would like to thank the Real Canadian Superstore, Sobeys, Wilkonson’s Independent Grocer and Zehrs in Tillsonburg for all of their help in making this year’s food drive a success.
The OPP would also like to thank Scotiabank of Simcoe for their support and dedication. Scotiabank Simcoe matched up to $5,000 dollars and presented a cheque to the OPP Auxiliary Unit which will be used for the Christmas Exchange Program.
The Auxiliary Unit will continue their efforts in raising additional funds. They will be hosting a silent auction at the Norfolk County Detachment where all the funds raised will go to support members from the community.
“The OPP would like to thank each and every person that donated to the food and toy drive. This is a great opportunity to support members of our community this holiday season. Knowing that you can make a difference in someone’s life and bring a smile to a child’s face on Christmas morning is the best gift anyone could ever have,†comments Constable Ed Sanchuk, Norfolk County OPP.
