OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION ON HIGHWAY 17 NEAR WAHNAPITAE

(SUDBURY, ON)-The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision on Highway #17 in Wahnapitae.

Members of the Sudbury OPP detachment responded to the collision which took place at approximately 5:00 PM today. Preliminary investigation has revealed that a car and pick up collided head on just west of the Highway 537 junction. The male driver of the car was killed in the collision while the three occupants of the pick up were treated at Health Sciences North for minor injuries.

Highway #17 was closed for several hours while Technical Traffic Collision Investigators and a reconstructionist examined the scene. The highway has since been re-opened to traffic, however motorists can expect intermitent delays for several hours as the investigation continues.
