(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On April 14, 2015 at 5:51 pm, the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a missing child incident near Rankin Lake Road in Seguin Township. The six year old went missing while out on a nature watch with his father. Members of the OPP, Seguin Fire Services, family and civilian volunteers initiated ground search before OPP special units Canine (K9) and Emergency Response Team (ERT) arrived.
Officers arrived on scene and located the child wedged under a large rock. The initial investigation reveals that the six year old was climbing on rocks and the rocks shifted pinning the boy under. Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) efforts were administered and the child was immediately transported to the hospital and later pronounced deceased.
The boy has been identified as Fynn BYWATER of Seguin Township.
The investigation is being conducted by members of the West Parry Sound OPP and the Coroner’s Office.
