During the week of April 23, 2018, to April 30, 2018 there were 100 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.
There were fourteen motor vehicle collisions, eleven were animal related.
There were two domestic dispute calls for service, and one domestic dispute resulting in criminal code charges.
Domestic Assault Charge
On Monday April 23, 2018 at approximately 2:42 pm, Killaloe OPP Constable Glenn Yaraskavitch and Constable Ian Morin responded to a domestic disturbance in Bonnechere Valley Twp. As a result of police investigation, a 29 yr. old male from Bonnechere Valley Twp. has been charged with Assault, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was held pending a bail court hearing , Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
Shoplift, Theft
On Monday April 23, 2018 at approximately 10:09 am, Killaloe OPP Constable Glenn Yaraskavitch responded to a theft call at the Kokomish Café Gift Shop, Golden Lake. A brown leather jacket was stolen off of a mannequin in the shop by a female person. Police are currently reviewing store video and this incident remains under investigation.
BBQ Theft
On Saturday April 28, 2018 at approximately 2:01 pm, Killaloe OPP responded to a theft call at a cottage on Tramore Road, North Algona Wilberforce Twp. A new BBQ was stolen. This incident remains under investigation.
Moose Collision
On Wednesday April 25, 2018 at approximately 9:35 pm, Whitney OPP Constable Mike Holbrook responded to a single vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a moose on Highway 60, Algonquin Provincial Park. There were no reported injuries. The vehicle was heavily damaged.
On Wednesday April 25, 2018 at approximately 4:33 am, Killaloe OPP Constable Mike Recoskie and Constable Jesse Kisters responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 60, Madawaska Valley Twp. A passenger car had swerved to avoid a deer and veered into the guard rails and became lodged in the embankment. The male passenger was taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries, while the male driver and child were not injured. The vehicle was towed. No charges laid.
