Tammy SHAPWAYKEESIC – Cocaine Trafficking

(ARMSTRONG, ON) – One individual has been charged with drug trafficking following a traffic stop in Armstrong.

On Thursday, January 1, 2026, shortly after 5 p.m. EST, officers with the Armstrong Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Airport Road.

Through an investigation with the support of the Thunder Bay OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and their ongoing investigation into the trafficking of illicit drugs in Armstrong and Whitesand First Nation, officers seized suspected crack cocaine, Canadian currency, and various drug-related paraphernalia.

As a result, Tammy SHAPWAYKEESIC, 39 years old from Whitesand First Nation, was charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused was held for bail and later released. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Armstrong on January 20, 2026.
