Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Matthew CARPENTER

(DRUMMOND-NORTH ELMSLEY TOWNSHIP, ON) – A speeding car has led to numerous charges for a driver and the recovery of a stolen vehicle.

On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, shortly after 8:30 a.m., a member of the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 7, between Perth and Innisville, when a vehicle was detected travelling at more than 110 kilometres per hour in an 80 zone.

The officer stopped the vehicle and determined that it had been reported stolen in Ottawa in late December. It was also found that the driver was under a licence suspension, and the individual did not have insurance.

Matthew CARPENTER, age 36 of Arnprior, has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Driving a vehicle with no licence
  • Failing to have insurance
  • Speeding
  • Breach of recognizance

The accused was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth, to be held Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
