Safety Reminder: Ontario’s Move Over Law

The OPP urges all drivers to respect Ontario’s Move Over Law. When approaching an emergency vehicle stopped with its lights flashing, motorists must slow down and, if safe, move into another lane. This law is designed to protect police, paramedics, tow truck operators, and other roadside workers.

Failure to comply can result in fines, demerit points, and most critically, serious injury or death.

Let’s keep our roads safe. Slow down. Move over. It’s the law.
