Robert Harrison – Impaired Operation

(BLIND RIVER, ON) – Driver arrested at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check in Blind River.

On Monday, March 23, 2026, members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative on Woodward Avenue when a red minivan entered the check area. During the stop, officers observed signs consistent with alcohol impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the Blind River OPP detachment for further testing.

Robert Harrison, 66 years-old from Blind River was charged with: Operation while impaired-alcohol.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on

May 7, 2026. The driver was also issued a 90‑day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The OPP reminds motorists that impaired driving, whether by alcohol or drugs, puts everyone at risk. If you suspect a driver is impaired, call 9‑1‑1 and report it.
