OPP Shamelessly Praise Themselves For Caring/Helping While Off The Clock!

(Round Lake, ON) – A member of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is being praised for his life-saving actions.

Provincial Constable Jared MOORE was off-duty and out for a walk with family members at Round Lake on February 24, 2024, when he saw two snowmobiles attempting to cross a section of open water near the mouth of the Bonnechere River. While the first machine made it across, the second plunged into the frigid water along with its driver. The rider of the first machine could be seen attempting a rescue. The two riders were a husband and wife from western Ontario.

Constable Moore worked with the husband in attempts rescue the woman from the water. Eventually the husband slipped into the water to help his spouse who was losing the ability to move.

Constable Moore was able to pull both individuals from the water. He then provided first aid until Renfrew County paramedics and other first responders could arrive. The man and woman were transported to hospital to be treated for potential hypothermia.

Later that day Constable Moore, still off-duty, picked up the couple at the hospital, drove them back to Round Lake and assisted in loading up the snowmobile that was still on the ice.

“I want to thank Constable Moore for his selfless actions. Despite being off-duty, Jared didn’t hesitate to jump into action, exhibiting the traits and dedication that exemplify the commitment and dedication of being a member of the Ontario Provincial Police.” – Superintendent Darryl Sigouin.

Editor’s Note: What the officer did is expected of everyone living a caring society that believes in equality. Most Citizens would be humble in their half-botched rescue attempt, not brag they helped someone and specifically point out that they weren’t even being paid to do so. All Canadians have sung-swore the oath to Stand on Guard for Thee, even if they aren’t being financially compensated at the time. If the rescuer was a tradesperson, there would be no focus on his profession.
