Northumberland Update

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have responded to several incidents, including a traffic stop that led to multiple charges involving public mischief and prohibited driving.

Campbellford – Assault Investigation

On July 22, 2025, shortly after 3:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of an earlier altercation at a location on Haigs Beach Road. The accused allegedly assaulted the complainant and caused damage to a vehicle by kicking it. No serious injuries were reported.

As a result of the investigation, Brad HERMAN (62) from the Municipality of Trent Hills, has been charged with:

• Assault
• Mischief – destroys or damages property

The individual is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September.

Campbellford – Prohibited Driver

On July 22, 2025, at around 9:45 a.m., OPP stopped a driver on Dominion Street for not wearing a seatbelt. Further investigation revealed the individual was prohibited from driving.

Joshua PRATT, 42, from Warkworth, has been charged with:

• Operation while prohibited
• Driver – fail to properly wear seatbelt

The vehicle was impounded for 45 days. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in August.

Trent Hills – Identity Fraud and Ammunition Seizure

On July 22, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., police were officers conducting speed enforcement on County Road 25 stopped a vehicle travelling at 106 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The driver provided false identity details and was taken into custody. A search revealed approximately 30 rounds of rifle ammunition.

Patrick JENSEN, 37, of no fixed address, has been charged with:

• Operation while prohibited
• Public mischief
• Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice (Identity fraud)
• Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
• Possession of prohibited device or ammunition
• Suspended driving – four counts
• Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
• Operate motor vehicle without insurance
• Use of plates not authorized
• Speeding

The vehicle was impounded for 45 days. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in August.

The OPP reminds all motorists that providing false information during a traffic stop is a criminal offence and can lead to serious consequences. Additionally, transporting ammunition carelessly poses risks to public safety and will be dealt with accordingly.
