(MIDLAND, ON) Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired‑related offences following a traffic stop last evening.
On February 24, 2026, at approximately 9:45 p.m., an officer stopped a pickup truck observed travelling at excessive speeds and operating unsafely on snowy roads on Simcoe County Road 93 and on Vindin Street in Midland.
During the investigation, the officer detected an odour of alcohol while speaking with the driver, who subsequently registered a “FAIL” on a roadside alcohol screening device. The driver was arrested and transported to the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, NEIL DRURY, 50 years old, of Tiny Township, Ontario, is charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on March 12, 2026. The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days as per provincial regulations.
The OPP reminds motorists that impaired driving continues to be one of the leading causes of serious collisions and fatalities on Ontario roadways. If you consume alcohol, cannabis, or other drugs, please plan a safe ride home.
