(KENORA, ON) – Human remains have been located by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as part of an ongoing investigation into the disappearance and death of a Kenora resident.
On Sunday, October 26, 2025, Mekhi PELLY (SCOTT), age 21 of Grassy Narrows First Nation, was reported missing to the Kenora OPP. Two individuals were arrested and charged in connection with this investigation.
On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) located human remains in the Washagamis Bay First Nation area. A postmortem examination confirmed the remains to be those of Mekhi PELLY (SCOTT).
The investigation is being conducted by the Kenora OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Search efforts were assisted by the OPP’s ERT, Canine Unit, Underwater Search and Recovery Unit and the Lac Seul Police Canine Unit, in collaboration with Treaty Three Police Service, Grassy Narrows First Nation and Washagamis Bay First Nation.
The OPP would like to extend its gratitude to community members, local partners and volunteers for their support and cooperation throughout the search for Mehki. Your assistance and collaboration have been instrumental in these efforts.
