Meth Bust – Nicole BELANGER

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) -Two people were arrested and face weapon and drug charges after police stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.

On February 20, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), initiated a traffic stop on Edith Street in Temiskaming Shores.

During the investigation, officers located and seized a weapon as well as drugs which led to the arrest of both occupants of the vehicle. 

The driver, Nicole BELANGER, 35 years-old, of Notre Dame du Nord, Quebec, was charged with:

• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
• Possession of Schedule 1 substance – methamphetamine
• Drive with improper headlights
• Improper number plate light

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury, on March 25, 2025.

The passenger, Joshua CHIEF, 40 years-old, of Norte Dame du Nord, Quebec, was charged with:

• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
• Possession of Schedule 1 substance – methamphetamine
• Failure to comply with release order
• Failure to attend court while on release order  

The accused was held for a bail hearing is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury, on March 4, 2025.
