(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – The Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a call for service that led to the seizure of drugs and a handgun.
On Monday September 6, 2025, the Kirkland Lake OPP were dispatched to a concerned citizen reporting a person with blood in their hair and on their clothing at a gas station on Highway 11, in Grenfell Township. Police spoke with all parties and identified the involved persons. The passenger was arrested on the strength of outstanding warrants from Hamilton Police Service.
As a result of the search of persons and vehicle, officers seized suspected cocaine and fentanyl, with an estimated street value of over $9,000. Additionally, a handgun, drug paraphernalia, a cellular phone and over $3,900 in Canadian currency was seized.
As a result of the investigation, Anton MCGRATH, a 24-year-old from Ajax, has been charged with:
· Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
· Carrying concealed weapon
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid
· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice on November 6, 2025.
