(NORTH BAY, ON) – The North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired driving after a traffic stop.
On Monday, December 29, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., officers observed a parked vehicle in a commercial lot off Highway 11 near McKeown Avenue in North Bay. The vehicle was idling, and the driver appeared to be smoking cannabis. Upon speaking with the driver, officers confirmed cannabis consumption. The individual was arrested and transported to the North Bay OPP detachment for further testing.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located and seized unsealed cannabis and unmarked cigarettes.
As a result of the investigation, Martin FUNNELL, 41 years of age, of North Bay, has been charged with:
· Operation while impaired – drugs
· Operation while impaired – blood drug concertation
· Drive a vehicle with cannabis readily available
· Possess unmarked cigarettes
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on February 3, 2026, in North Bay. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
