(EDWARDSBURGH-CARDINAL TOWNSHIP, ON) – Two people now face additional charges following an incident earlier this week, in which a vehicle, which initially fled from officers in Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Township.
Officers with the Grenville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to stop a car for a traffic violation on Thursday, January 8, 2026, around 2:00 a.m. on County Road 2 in Cardinal. The vehicle fled a high speed. Officers did not conduct a pursuit for safety reasons.
OPP officers later utilized a spike belt and other measures to safely stop the vehicle in the Iroquois area. Two people were arrested without further incident. There were no injuries, although one OPP cruiser was struck by the vehicle.
Officers seized a firearm and an imitation firearm and other items.
In addition to the earlier charges, Joshua LAMOUREUX, age 39 of North Grenville, has been charged with:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Occupant of a vehicle knowing there was a firearm
This accused was remanded in custody with a bail hearing scheduled to continue before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
In addition to the earlier charges, Joyce LA FRANCE, age 42 of Elizabethtown Township has now been charged with:
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Occupant of a vehicle knowing there was a firearm
This accused was remanded in custody with a bail hearing scheduled to continue before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
