(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a local man following a trespassing call that escalated into multiple criminal charges.
On August 22, 2024, shortly after 5:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a vehicle trespassing on private property. The vehicle was reported to have driven onto the property, and when the owner went to investigate, the vehicle was driven towards the owner before driving away.
Police located the vehicle a short time later and initiated a traffic stop. During the investigation, the officer made an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand, which the driver refused. As a result, the driver was arrested for Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand.
The driver, identified as 30-year-old Jonathan RALLISON of Bancroft, was released from custody concerning this charge. However, while awaiting the arrival of a tow truck, RALLISON was arrested again, this time for assaulting a peace officer.
The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 26, 2024, to address the criminal charges.
