Jo-Anne MCRAE – Drunk Driving

(CALVIN) – The North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver following a 911 call and subsequent single‑vehicle collision on Highway 17 in Calvin Township.

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the North Bay OPP received a 911 call reporting a suspected impaired driver travelling on Highway 17. Officers responded and located the vehicle off the roadway, down an embankment in the eastbound ditch.

Police spoke with the driver, who was still inside the vehicle and uninjured. Officers determined that alcohol was a factor in the collision. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Jo-Anne MCRAE, 55 years of age, of Orleans, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

·        Driving a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·        Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on March 17, 2026. The driver was also issued a 90‑day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Impaired driving remains one of the most significant threats to road safety in Ontario. The OPP urges motorists to help keep roadways safe, if you suspect a driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs, call 911 immediately.
