(KAPUSKASING, ON) – On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, members of the North East Region Community Street Crime Unit (NER CSCU), with the assistance of the North East Region Emergency Response Team (NER ERT), executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Stewart Street in Kapuskasing, Ontario.
The investigation focused on alleged drug trafficking activities and the search warrant was executed without incident. One person was arrested inside the residence and during the investigation, a second person was also arrested without incident.
As a result of the investigation:
Vanessa NIEMI, 42 years of age, of Kapuskasing, was charged with:
- Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a prohibited device/ammunition
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Careless storage of ammunition
- Possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000
Karl BOUCHER, 33 years of age, of Kapuskasing, was charged with:
- Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
Both accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing at a later date.
The OPP reminds the public that drug trafficking and unsafe firearm possession are serious offences that jeopardize the safety of communities. The OPP remains committed to investigating criminal activity and removing illicit drugs and firearms from our streets.
