(NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – A member of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting general patrol on Victoria Street East in Alliston when an Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) alert led to an arrest
On February 11, 2026, shortly after 2:00 p.m., the ALPR alert identified a potential stolen vehicle. The officer confirmed the licence plate attached to the vehicle ensuring it matched the ALPR alert and followed the vehicle into a parking lot where the driver exited the vehicle. The officer detained the male for investigative purposes regarding the possible stolen vehicle.
During the investigation it was learned the vehicle was registered to the driver, but the licence plates had been reported stolen and did not belong on the vehicle. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest.
As a result of the investigation Cory ROBERTSON, a 34-year-old of New Tecumseth was charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- Driving while under suspension
- Drive motor vehicle, no permit
The licence plates were seized as a result of the investigation, and the accused party was released on a Form 10 Undertaking with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford.
