Cocaine In Salsa Ends With Arrest

(COLLINGWOOD, ON) – On August 3, 2025, just after 3:00 a.m. officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on First Street in the Town of Collingwood after a motor vehicle was observed with no headlights or tail lights.

The vehicle, a grey Ford Escape, was stopped without incident. The lone male occupant was identified as Ivan Ryan, 48 years-old of Collingwood. While interacting with the driver, officers observed a controlled substance within plain view.

A search of the motor vehicle was conducted revealing approximately 55 grams of suspected cocaine concealed in a tostitos salsa container. A large portion of cash and drug paraphernalia were also seized.

Ivan Ryan was charged with the following offences:

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking, section 5(2), Controlled Drugs & Substances Act
• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada, section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code
• Drive without proper headlights – motor vehicle, section 62(1), Highway Traffic Act
• Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, section 2(1)(a), Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The accused is scheduled for a future date before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood.
