Claudine ELIJAH Was Arrested

(ONEIDA NATION OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – Driver charged with impaired operation after vehicle leaves road and enters ditch.

On June 13, 2024, at 7:42 a.m., members of the Oneida Nation Police and Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Fairgrounds Road, Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation.

The vehicle left the roadway and entered the ditch.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Claudine ELIJAH, a 69-year-old of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

·      Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on July 23, 2024.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.
