(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – Fergus resident faces numerous charges stemming from a local traffic stop.
On March 11, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP were performing a traffic enforcement initiative and performed a traffic stop on St David Street North within the Town of Fergus.
As a result of the investigation, Austin MARTINS, a 31-year-old from Fergus is charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Owner operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
- Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on April 24, 2026.
