Another Seriously Injured After OPP Interaction – SIU Invokes Silence & Mandate

(RAINY RIVER, ON) – The province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following an incident in Rainy River.

On Sunday, October 5, 2025, shortly after 11:00 p.m. officers from the Rainy River Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were alerted to a stolen vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 621.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle near Highway 11. A spike belt was deployed, and the vehicle subsequently entered the ditch. As a result of the collision, the passenger sustained serious injuries.

The driver and passenger were taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for assessment.
