Andrew HAWKE Arrested For Arson

(PENETANGUISHENE, ON) The Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested a suspect in relation to the ongoing investigation into a suspicious fire at a multi‑unit residential dwelling on Poyntz Street in Penetanguishene.

On the afternoon of January 23, 2026, a uniform member was conducting patrol duties in the Town of Midland when the suspect was located outside a County Road 93 shopping centre. He was arrested without incident.

As a result of the investigation, Andrew HAWKE, 43 years of Penetanguishene, has been charged under the Criminal Code with the following charges:

  • Arson – Disregard for Human Life
  • Arson – Damage to Property

HAWKE was held in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice, which is scheduled to take place on January 24, 2026.

Police would like to thank the public for their assistance and cooperation during this investigation, particularly as officers worked to locate an individual they were concerned for regarding their safety and well‑being.
