(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid over a dozen charges, including drug possession charges, against two individuals after a stolen licence plate was recovered.
Shortly before noon on November 27, an OPP officer received an ALPR camera notification about a stolen licence plate on Highway 417 near Almonte. A traffic stop was conducted and investigation revealed that the two individuals in the vehicle were on conditions not to be with each other. Officers discovered one of the individuals was wanted and had multiple arrest warrants. Officers also seized Fentanyl and Cocaine.
Alison BURKE-FILEWOD, 41 years of age from Almonte, faces the following charges:
- Possession of a schedule I substance – Opioid (other then heroin)
- Possession of a schedule I substance – Cocaine
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Obstruct peace officer
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Operate a vehicle without insurance
- Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates
- Fail to apply for permit upon becoming owner
Terrence OWENS, 41 years of age from Mississippi Mills, faces the following charges:
- Possession of a schedule I substance – Opioid (other then heroin)
- Possession of a schedule I substance – Cocaine
- Obstruct peace officer
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Failure to comply with release order – other then to attend court; four counts
Both accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
