(THUNDER BAY, ON) – An individual from Scarborough is facing Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) charges following a drug trafficking investigation in Thunder Bay.
In the fall of 2025, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Provincial Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team (PGNG), including members from the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) and the Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS), began an intelligence-led investigation into the alleged trafficking of drugs in Thunder Bay and surrounding communities.
On Monday, December 8, 2025, an individual was arrested by PGNG and the OPP Emergency Response Team in Thunder Bay near Highway 11/17 and Dawson Road.
The police investigation led to the seizure of the following items with approximate quantities:
· 230 g suspected fentanyl
· 680 g suspected cocaine
· 200 g suspected crack cocaine
· Two cell phones
The estimated street value of the drugs seized is more than $202,500.
As a result of the investigation, Dayne Anthony Ricardo JONES, age 38 of Scarborough, has been charged with the following offences:
· Breach of release order, s. 145(5)(a) CC
· Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, s. 5(2) CDSA
· Possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl, s. 5(2) CDSA
The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay at a later date.
