(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – A weapons call has led to the arrest and multiple charges against two locals in Kirkland Lake.
On October 18, 2024, at approximately 1:20 a.m., the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Timiskaming Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a disturbance on Government Road West, in Chaput Hughes. The caller observed a group of people in an altercation and then a person brandishes a baseball bat. The victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Gary BURNS, 44-year-old of Kirkland Lake was arrested and charged for the following:
· Assault with a weapon- three counts
· Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
· Failure to comply with release order
The accused was held for bail court hearing, has since been released from custody and is scheduled to next appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on December 12, 2024.
Additionally, Dylan SACKRIDER, 27-year-old of Kirkland Lake was arrested and charged for the following:
· Assault with a weapon
· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
· Possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
The accused was held for bail court hearing, was released from custody, and is scheduled to next appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on November 28, 2024.
