14 Criminal Chrages At Traffic Stop

(LENNOX AND ADDINGTON COUNTY, ON) – Lennox and Addington (L&A) County members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three people with 14 criminal charges, including impaired driving, in separate incidents.

On Thursday, November 28, 2024, shortly after 3:00 p.m., a vehicle was reported to be travelling westbound on Highway 401 in Greater Napanee, swerving and cutting off other drivers. Officers stopped the vehicle, and the investigation resulted in the arrest of Shayne COUTURNIER. a 53-year-old from Mississauga, and Arshum HOSSAINI a 25-year-old from Toronto. They are charged jointly with:

• Failure to comply with undertaking

• Identity theft – makes, distributes another person’s information

• Possession of a credit card

• Possession of a forged document with intent

• Possession of an identity document

• Possession of cocaine

Both accused are in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on November 29, 2024

In a second, similar incident, a vehicle was stopped on Highway 41 in Addington Highlands following a traffic complaint from a member of the public. As a result, Ajay SUNIL a 26-year-old from Toronto was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

• Operation while impaired – over 80mgs of alcohol

That accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on December 17, 2024. They were also issued a 90 Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and their vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
