The Barrie Police Service has confirmed the identity of skeletal human remains discovered earlier this month in the south end of the city as William ‘Blake’ Robinson, a victim of a 2025 double homicide.
The remains were discovered on August 13, 2026, in a wooded area at Anne and Tiffin streets, near a former encampment, which was the site of a massive police investigation.
Last summer, Barrie Police arrested an individual in relation to the case. He remains in custody facing several criminal charges in connection with the deaths and dismemberment of the two victims, 45-year-old Robinson and 41-year-old David Cheesequay.
The Barrie Police Service remains committed to being transparent with the public and providing information as it becomes available.
Human remains discovered
At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Thurs., August 13, Barrie Police were contacted after remains were discovered in the area of Anne Street South and Tiffin Street. It was determined that the skeletal remains are human.
The remains will be sent to the Center of Forensic Sciences for identification.
The OPP Urban Containment Rescue Team will be assisting in the search for additional evidence within the water. Barrie police are continuing to hold the scene until the search has been completed.
While this discovery was in close proximity to the double homicide last summer at the former encampment, police will be investigating it as a separate incident. If detectives make any connection to another investigation, those details will be shared when possible. It’s very early in the investigation and it would be inappropriate to make assumptions about the nature of the remains.
The Barrie Police Major Crime Unit has now taken over the investigation. Further information will be provided when it becomes available.
