On Tuesday, September 1st, 2026 while conducting foot patrol downtown Kent Street West, Kawartha Lakes Police officers observed a 45-year-old female of Lindsay who was wanted on a warrant by the Ontario Provincial Police. KLPS officers arrested the female on the strength of the warrants for assault, fail to comply undertaking x2, fail to attend court x2, operation while impaired x2. The second warrant was for dangerous operation, impaired operation x2, and fail to attend court. The female was transported by KLPS and transferred into OPP custody.
On Tuesday, September 1st, 2026, Kawartha Lakes Police Service attended the area of Melbourne Street East in Lindsay regarding a 26-year-old male of Peterborough who was intoxicated in a public place. While investigating the provincial offence under the Liquor License Act it was found the male was wanted on a warrant by Toronto Police Service. KLPS officers arrested the male on the warrant for theft under $5000, fail to comply probation order x2, and possession of property obtained by crime. The male was transported by KLPS and Toronto Police Service took over custody.
On September 1, 2026, Kawartha Lakes Police Service officers conducted two separate traffic stops in Lindsay that resulted in charges under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
In the first incident, officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Cambridge Street South and identified the driver as a 34-year-old Lindsay male. During the investigation, officers determined that the driver, who was also the registered owner of the vehicle, was operating the vehicle without valid insurance. The driver was issued a Part III Notice for Owner Operate Motor Vehicle on a Highway Without Insurance and was provided a court date to answer to the charge.
In a second incident, officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Kent Street West and Cambridge Street South. During the investigation, officers learned that the vehicle was being operated without insurance. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as the registered owner, who had permitted the uninsured vehicle to be operated on a highway. The owner was issued a Part III Notice for Owner Permit Operation of a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance, contrary to Section 2(1)(b) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act,and was given a future court date to answer to the charge.
The Kawartha Lakes Police Service reminds motorists that all vehicles operated on Ontario highways must be properly insured as required by law. Operating or permitting the operation of an uninsured vehicle can result in significant fines and penalties.
