(Wingham, North Huron) A disgraced and current Reeve/Mayor of North Huron, Paul Heffer has announced he will not be running for Reeve/Mayor in the upcoming election. Many believe Paul Heffer crossed the line when he accosted a woman in the public gallery on 02Feb2026. Self proclaimed coward Paul Heffer had the police remove all the real men from the public and press gallery, then attempted to kick out a grandmother that was in the public gallery. She stood her ground, refused to leave or be bullied by Paul Heffer.
This encounter clearly humiliated Heffer, as he had been accused of not standing up to town staff and for the people, then couldn’t even bully/kick-out a five-foot-nothing grandmother. Town staff have come forward and have claimed North Huron was secretly recording the public gallery, and this encounter was captured on one of those videos.
Currently only two people are running for Mayor/Reeve in the upcoming 26Oct2026 municipal election, Mitch Wright and William G. Darling.
The deadline to file a nomination is Friday, August 21, 2026, by 2 p.m
