14 Year Old Wanted For Murder

Hamilton Police are searching for a 14-year-old male in connection with a shooting death at Jackson Square.

On April 24, 2026, at approximately 5:10 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to reports of a shooting inside Jackson Square. Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old male suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Nabil Askafe of Hamilton. Nabil’s family has requested privacy as they deal with their loss.

Two males were observed fleeing the area eastbound toward James Street. Police have identified one of the suspects as a 14-year-old youth, who is currently wanted in connection with this incident. Efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest him. Police are urging him to contact investigators or seek legal counsel and turn himself in. He is facing a 2nd degree murder charge.

Police are currently seeking judicial authorization to release the suspect’s name and photo. 

Police believe there was an altercation prior to Nabil’s death inside the mall. During the physical altercation, the suspect brandished a firearm and shot Nabil. Police are also asking the individual who was with the suspect to also come forward so investigators can talk to him.
