(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) has charged a youth with several drug-related offences following an investigation.
The ByWard Market Central Neighbourhood Resource Team (NRT) launched an investigation into a residence in the ByWard Market after receiving complaints from city partners about suspected illegal drug activity.
During the investigation, officers identified one of the suspects as being wanted on an outstanding warrant in Gatineau, Quebec, for drug possession offences.
On Sunday, April 19, at approximately 10:04 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop to arrest the suspect on the outstanding warrant.
As a result of the stop, officers seized approximately 100 grams of suspected fentanyl, along with Canadian currency.
The youth has been charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Failure to comply with an undertaking (three counts)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
No further information will be released, as the accused is a youth, in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The Drug Unit continues to investigate.
