(KINCARDINE, ON) – A resident from Arran-Elderslie has been charged with multiple impaired operation charges following an incident in which a police cruiser was almost struck.
South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police officers were responding to a call involving downed wires on Highway 21 in Kincardine Township around 11:00PM on March 15, 2026.
While officers were blocking traffic, a marked police cruiser with emergency lights activated was almost struck by a vehicle. During a traffic stop on the vehicle, officers observed signs of impairment with the driver and placed them under arrest.
William HARKNESS, 31 years old from Arran-Elderslie has been charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
- Dangerous operation
The accused was also charged under the Cannabis Control Act with:
- Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
The accused was released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Walkerton on April 29, 2026.
The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’s driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.
