(BRANT, ON) – On March 24, 2026, at approximately 11:10 p.m., members of the Brant County OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on Highway 403 Wayne Gretzky Parkway at the eastbound Off-Ramp in the County of Brant.
During the program, officers stopped a motor vehicle for the purpose of an impaired-driving investigation.
David VANLAREN, a 49‑year‑old from Brantford, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
The accused was subsequently released with a driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle being impounded. The accused is scheduled for a court appearance on March 8, 2026, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford.
The OPP continues to prioritize road safety through proactive enforcement and public education. Impaired driving-whether by alcohol or drugs-remains one of the leading causes of serious collisions and fatalities on Ontario roadways.
