On Friday March 20, 2026, at approximately 2:40 a.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP, conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Front Street, West Nipissing.
The driver was on conditions, to operate a motor vehicle with an ignition interlock device, which the vehicle did not have installed.

The OPP is reminding drivers that operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, including failing to comply with an ignition interlock condition, is a serious criminal offence.
An ignition interlock device is installed to prevent a vehicle from starting if the driver has been consuming alcohol. Drivers who are required to use this device must ensure they fully comply with all conditions of their prohibition.
Failure to do so can result in additional criminal charges, further driving prohibitions, and possible jail time.
The OPP remains committed to keeping Ontario roads safe. If you choose to drive, make sure you do so sober and in full compliance with the law.
